Mahatma Gandhi Drawing Contest

The Mahatma Gandhi Drawing Contest was organised by the Embassy of India, Bangkok from 1 January to 31 March 2019 for Thai children aged 10 to 15 years. There was overwhelming response to the Contest with 670 children submitting 687 drawings from throughout Thailand. 

An exhibition to showcase the top 100 drawings was held at the Chulalongkorn University Museum from 7 May 2019 to 16 June 2019.  The Closing Ceremony of the Exhibition was held at the Chulalongkorn University Museum on 7 June 2019.  Many Thai children who participated in the Contest, their parents, teachers and friends and members of the Indian community attended the event. Ambassador Suchitra Durai and Prof. Pirongrong Ramasoota, Vice President, Chulalongkorn University spoke at the event. The Ceremony was also attended by Prof. Surat Horaichakul of Chulalongkorn University who was gave the Vote of Thanks and by Mr. Sabyasachi Ghosh of Indigo Airlines and Mr. Ramesh Narsinghpura of Indora Ventures. The drawing received from Master Kaninnutch Chanchanayothin from Nakhon Ratchasima Province was declared the winner of the contest. Air tickets to India from Indigo Airlines for the winner of the contest and cash prizes for the top 10 drawings sponsored by Indorama Ventures were distributed at the Closing Ceremony. Besides Certificates of Participation, all those attending the event received a copy of the catalogue of the drawings, a Mahatma Gandhi t-shirt and the Thai version of Mahatma Gandhi's book "The Story of My Experiments with Truth"
