Press Release on 74th Independence Day of India

PRESS RELEASE

       74th Independence Day of India was celebrated at the Embassy of India, Bangkok, on 15 August 2020 with usual fervour, respecting the physical distancing norms and local laws, in wake of the pandemic. The tri-colour was unfurled by Ambassador of India to Thailand, H.E. Ms. Suchitra Durai, followed by singing of the Indian National Anthem. Ambassador Durai also read out the Hon’ble President’s Address to the Nation. A short cultural programme by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Bangkok, and Indian Women’s Club Group, Bangkok, were also organised on the occasion.

       The celebrations were attended by around 150 Indian nationals, overseas Indians and friends of India. Members of various associations representing various parts of India also participated enthusiastically. Embassy representatives among the Indian diaspora in Thailand were also felicitated by the Ambassador on the occasion. 

        The event was live streamed on YouTube and Facebook page of the Embassy.  The event also showcased top-class Made in India products such as Bajaj and Royal Enfield motorcycles in line with the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.
